Perth's Lunar New Year 2019: Where to Eat
Lunar New Year celebration is a great excuse to go out and enjoy various different dishes than the usual sweet and sour pork, or vegetables in oyster sauce ;-). Here’s our 5 recommended places to enjoy your celebration in Perth.
Authentic Bites Dumpling House, Northbridge
I am so excited to finally found a place who specialised in fresh and delicious dumpling especially when I saw that my Xiao Long Bao's skin was created with the right thickness!
Morning Dim Sum at Ping Pang Pong
Ping Pang Pong excels in their dumplings especially through their very juicy XLB (Xiao Long Bao). The dumpling skin has perfect and it was very easy to pick it up using chopsticks. Their other dim sum offerings were really delicious too, definitely worth a try.
Chinese New Year at Dainty Dowager (Invited)
We had a very enjoyable Chinese New Year celebration at Daintys, surrounded with good companion and feasting on delicious food from their CNY Banquet menu.
Kenko Home Cuisine, Northbridge
For the city workers, Kenko lunch special costs $10 for the rice dishes and $12 for the noodle dishes. I think that night I only tried a tiny portion of what Kenko offered and as I’m writing this review, I know that I’m keen to go back to Kenko for other dishes!
The Mouthful Duck, Ellenbrook
We like what the Mouthful Duck offered and their meal portions was quite generous for the price that we paid. It was good to see that they include jasmine rice as part of the cost as well as different vegetables as the side dish to your main meal.
Chapas Kitchen & Bar, Beaufort St
What was supposed to be a small dinner became quite a big dinner for us and we had a good catch up at Chapas. I am excited to see the full menu as well as the tea degustation that will take place in a month or two.
A Feast at Miss Chow's, Claremont Quarter (Invited)
If you’ve been to Apple Daily then you will remember the taste of their food especially their roast duck bun. Thus the over-excitement when we got the invitation to visit Miss Chow’s and try some food from their menu, especially when the menu was created by the former head chef of Apple Daily, Andrew J. Moore
Lunch Special at South Ocean Chinese Restaurant
We had a good experience during dinner time at the South Ocean Chinese Restaurant and hoping that lunch meals would be as good as well.
Old Cathay Birthday Banquet
The Old Cathay restaurant delivered amazing range of fine Chinese cuisine from different regions. Check out some food photos that we took from the birthday banquet!
Andly Private Kitchen, Leederville
Every aspiring chef will want to have his own restaurant as part of his life's achievement and for one chef, Andly Li, that dream has come to fruition in the form of a Private Kitchen in Leederville. Here is our impression of the special menu that Chef Andly prepared for us.
Uncle Billy's Chinese Restaurant
Perth's Chinatown in Northbridge may be rather small and quiet but for as long as I can remember, it is well known for a restaurant called Uncle Billy's.
Good Fortune, Vic Park
We frequented Good Fortune in Northbridge before we became loyal customers of the outlet at East Victoria Park. A lot of people were queuing outside for weeks when the restaurant first opened its doors on Albany Hwy.
Kung Fu Kitchen Hot Pot
I don't eat hot pot regularly but I do probably have one annual hot pot dinner. The difficulty is that I haven't found a good hot pot place after the Dragon Steamboat closed. On one wintry night, I braced the cold and walked into Kung Fu Hot Pot with my husband.
Scoopon Deal: Ming's BBQ House
Scoopon gave us a chance to try a 7 course meal for two people. It turned out to be a challenge for both of us.
Lunch Special: The Silks Review
Is it a wise decision to spend money for the most expensive Chinese food in town?
