Perth's Chinatown in Northbridge may be rather small and quiet but for as long as I can remember, it is well known for a restaurant called Uncle Billy's.

It's one of those places that isn't well known for its extravagance or its culinary expertise, rather its popularity owes to the notion of reliability, consistency and availability (even in the wee hours of the early morning for late night revellers).

Many weekends we have come to Uncle Billy's to enjoy their range of food and the mandatory one to order are usually the golden eggplant (cooked in eggyolk), sizzling Japanese tofu and vinegar chicken.

The place can be quite noisy and hectic during weekends but food is usually delivered promptly. For larger groups there are tables located upstairs.

If you're out on the town and want some comforting Chinese food, Uncle Billy's will have you covered.
