The Good Old Boy Cafe
I was longing for a good comfort food when I stumbled upon The Old Boy at Kearns Cr area. I had a bit of difficulty finding it, but I asked someone and was informed that the café was located next to the Pharmacy 777.
The Old Boy café is an airy cosy café that can fit about 15-18 people. They have an outdoor seating for 4 people as part of their premise but there were a lot of public benches to sit in if the café is full.
The premise has two benches on both corners filled with pillows that would make a great hangout area for families with kids or a small group of friends to just chill and let time go by.
Since I haven't had biltong in a verrrry long time, I decided to go for biltong, cheddar and sweet chilli relish jaffles with my faithful cup of flat white with soy milk. I opted to sit outside because the weather was so beautiful and I missed the sun (I will definitely say the opposite when I get sick of the sun).
The two sisters (Courtney & Darryn) were really friendly and welcoming, they brought out my jaffles in a jiffy... Hahaha. My flat white was really smooth and sweet. I saw the Blacklist Coffee Roasters' beans on their shelves.
The jaffles was crunchy on the outside some people might want more biltong in it, but for me it was enough. The cheddar melted really well and sweet chili relish had enough kick to spice up the whole jaffles. It would be cool if I can have a set of jaffles in different flavours for an extra charge.
The concrete column and the floor of the café was grinded to show the aggregate concrete, then polished and sealed. They installed some industrial lighting, but there's enough sunlight to light up the venue. Many customers walked in from the neighbourhood's office, pharmacy and even fish market.
I like The Old Boy, the café lived up to the name by providing warmth to the customers and heart-warming old school jaffles. Next time I'm in the neighbourhood I will try other jaffle's flavours.
