The Dutch Trading Co, Vic Park (Invited)

The Dutch Trading Co (DTC) is a really cool hangout place. The space was divided into the front and back of the house area. The back area is very suitable for a group booking especially with the availability of the communal tables. The restaurant also has its own kids' playground available to provide a bit of a breathing time for the parents.

There are 18 beers on tap and other type of beers (national & international) that are constantly being rotated. On top of that they also stock 300 different bottled beers for their customers. The CANary system allow DTC to takeaway any beer from the tap which is really convenient!

Green apple juice and sour beer

The staff at DTC was really helpful when I couldn't decide on what beer to drink. He asked me what kind of flavour that I like and I told him that I tend to go for something fruity rather than sweet. Then he explained to me about the beauty of the sour beer which was quite acidic. He said sour beer is becoming more popular these days and provides an additional option for people who don't like the bitter taste of beer.

DTC also has juices on offer in their drink menu so Hubby went for a glass of fresh apple juice.

DTC's menu is quite easy to read. The food was divided into 5 different sections. There are $10 dishes for the kids, small dishes that can be shared around or enjoyed individually, burgers served with spiced chips, desserts and the big stuff. We ordered two different dishes from small stuff section, one dish from the big stuff and one hot dog.

$8 gluten free Smoked Corn Cob

The Smoked Mexican Spice Street Corn Cob was really yummy. They cut up the corn into 3 pieces to make it easier to eat. Hubby made it much more easier by cutting up all the corn kernels and mixed it with the berry and habanero salsa. It was so delicious! We also tried the Chorizitos cooked in cider with roast shallots, pear and crusty bread.

Hubby ordered the savoury chorizo dog that came with spiced chips. The portion was good but I feel like the price was a bit on the expensive side for $21. It was quite a huge hot dog in sourdough baguette with salsa verde, gouda and jalapeno.

Southern Fried Chicken with Crispy Kale $18

My fried chicken had really crispy skin and juicy flesh. It was delightful when mixed together with the torched and smoked maple butter. I just wish they gave more butter to go around ;-). The meal came together with crispy kale which was quite a refreshing addition alongside the shaved cheese and chicken.

By the time we finished our meal, we couldn't fit any dessert because we were full from all the food. The DTC is a great place to wind down and perfect for an after work gathering. The airy and spacious pub can fit different age group really well. There is 10% discount available for the locals that can show their driver licence with Victoria Park area code.
