The Shack Burger Parlour, Mandurah (Invited)
Gerry Zomer contacted me through my blog one day because he wanted to introduce his amazing burgers to some foodies in Perth. So I contacted some foodies who were more than happy to drive down to the Dolphin Quay area in Mandurah. One of them even had to drive all the way from Innaloo to Mandurah.
Gerry was a friendly guy who's involved in construction projects on a daily basis as a concreter. His side project was to create great burgers and his trip to the USA really inspired him to create The Shack Burger Parlour.
Hubby was just waiting for everyone to finish taking some photos :-D
Each bun was created from scratch using potato as the replacement of regular wheat flour. This was the secret behind the slightly squishy texture that all of us really enjoyed during our dinner. Gerry also mentioned that the double cooked fat chips were all hand cut at the restaurant.
The Colossus, are you ready for this?!
It didn't take long for us to choose our burger, thick shakes and desserts. Lily decided to get the colossus which was huge. The colossus burger is a combination of double meat patties, double bacon, double cheese, chicken patty and onion rings. This burger costs $24 which is not bad at all considering what you will get.
With the exception of the Colossus, other burgers' price actually ranges from $10 for two sliders, to $18 The Shack Man Burger which is the burger that came with double beef patty, double cheese and double bacon. We thought the price was seriously really good especially for the quality that we got.
My burger was The Shack Hot Stuff ($15) which came with the special house-made chilli sauce. The chilli sauce was perfect and it had a bit of refreshing tangy flavour to it. You guessed it right: Gerry also created all of the sauces himself!
The Shack Burger Parlour offers amazing kids meal called 'Mini Me Meal' for $12. This meal has fresh hand cut chips, juice box, a Shack slider and a small cup of frozen house-made custard!
For our desserts, all of us opted for the different flavour of frozen concrete custard. The house-made thick frozen custard was so yummy and rich! My favourite was the baked apple pie and Reese's peanut butter that came with chocolate custard and banana slices. In addition, customers will be able to create their own combination of toppings with the vanilla or chocolate frozen custards.
Hubby and I were planning to go back to try the hot dogs at The Shack Burger Parlour in the new year. We're quite excited about it especially knowing that we'll be in good hands :-).
