Have you heard of Cabin Fever Festival before? For 10 days, between the 13th and 22nd of July, Margaret River will celebrate winter in style! Expect delicious fireside brews, live music, cheese toastie battle (yas!), and don't forget a mug of hot chocolate to warm you up.
There are some special events that I'm so excited about:
1. Sake Masterclass with Sensei Miki
It's very rare to get in-depth knowledge of sake in Perth, but Miki's Open Kitchen will team up with Sake Sommelier Rey Takahashi at his masterclass. Miki's Open Kitchen is a must try Japanese restaurant when you go and visit Margaret River.
2. Blazing Brews
This is super exciting because the Beer Farm already stocked up a lot of woodfires so everyone can stay warm during the night. There will be grilled meats and also seasonal beers on tap, so get excited and check out a few photos from last year's event!

This free event is located at Metricup, just another 20 minutes driving from Margaret River or Busselton.
3. Cheese Toastie Battle
Everyone loves cheese toastie, and it's perfect comfort food for cold weather. During this battle, the best chefs in town will need to prepare their own rendition of a melty and delicious cheese toastie. Go to the event page of cabinfeverfest.com.au and grab your ticket now. Your ticket will include 5 delightful cheese toastie samples and a house beer or wine.
4. Food Truck Frenzy
I love food truck scene at Margaret River, it was always so refreshing to find different offerings from the one that we have in Perth. This year, Margaret River Night Markets will have undercover space and a pop-up bar! I'm pretty sure that I'll leave happy after the feast there.
5. A Tale of Terroirs
Vasse Felix is bringing a tale and taste of terroirs with matching food and wine dinner this year. Knowing the quality of food at Vasse Felix, I'm so excited to see what dishes that they will offer. You will start with a glass of Blanc de Blancs sparkling to Cab Sav and even 2014 Tom Cullity.
6. Bastille Day Lunch
On the 14th of July, Cape Mentelle is hosting a rustic winter feast in the Estate's historic wine cellar. There will definitely be a food and wine pairing on the day, and you will have a chance to try a game of Petanque.
For the 2016 edition of Gourmet Traveller Best Cellar Door Awards, Cape Mentelle was named Star Cellar Door of the Margaret River region.
7. Fondue by the Fire
On Saturday and Sunday during Cabin Fever Fest, Howard Park Wines will serve a glass of wine accompanied by cheese fondue by the fire.
It's a great time to have a good conversation with friends or family members. There will be cheese tasting available from Cambray Sheep Cheese as well on the day.
What are you waiting for? Time to pack some winter outfit for next month's getaway, book some tickets, and search for accommodations for a getaway to Margaret River. I will be coming in from Friday the 13th to Sunday the 15th of July, and I am totally counting down from now on!
