Coast Port Beach, North Fremantle

Coast was a very beautiful premise located right next to the beach at North Fremantle. It was a bright and calm afternoon when I went there and I was able to get a good view of the sunset. The whole place gave a really relaxing feel.

I had my dinner at the Cargo Bar area and there were some cozy lounge chairs there with a direct view of the beach. It was a good spot to do some work or even read a book. From Cargo Bar, you will be spoilt with good views wherever you look too. There's also a balcony area that would be a great hangout space when the weather is great.

Coast Tasting Platter consists of pork and plum spring rolls, ciabatta, olives, chorizo, house chutney, pesto, sweet potato fries, and tandoori chicken.

 Seafood Platter - $48

Seafood Platter - $48

The Seafood Platter consists of natural oysters, smoked salmon rose, tiger prawns, marinated white anchovies, ciabatta, dips, and lemon wedge.

I like how Coast cater to non-seafood eater because I was there with a group of people who weren't so keen of their fish let alone natural oysters! The pork and plum spring rolls were delicious as well as the tandoori chicken. Everyone loved the hand-cut sweet potato fries too.

I managed to steal a tiger prawn and a couple of oysters from the other group's platter. Both were fresh and the oysters went down really well. Such a refreshing treat for a balmy afternoon!

 Thai Beef Salad - $22

Thai Beef Salad - $22

The Thai Beef Salad at Coast Port Beach was a really good pick for a light dinner or lunch. The meal has tender beef scotch strips, some asian herbs and veges, Thai dressing and crispy fried vermicelli. This is a dish that I'll personally order again on my next visit to Coast. The mint leaves really brought in a slight refreshing feeling to the mouth as well. The price was quite good as well. Another light dish will be the Poke Salad which costs $21.

 Salmon - $30

Salmon - $30

I kinda had a big expectation for my salmon dish especially after reading the description on the menu. The menu says, "Miso glazed grilled Tasmanian salmon, green tea soba noodle and Thai salad. The salad was lacking in flavour and the green tea soba noodle was very small in amount. I think it was cooked a bit too long because the noodle was soggy. The salmon became the saving grace of this dish. It was well cooked and tasted delicious, although too much miso glazing on certain part of the salmon made some parts a bit too salty.

Twice Cooked Premium Scotch Fillet - $34

Twice Cooked Premium Scotch Fillet - $34

I like how they serve the steak on top of the beer battered chips. The scotch fillet was a bit too dry for medium but the disappointing part came from the red wine jus. 3 people in our group tried the jus and it was just a bit too bitter and acidic.

I think Coast Port Beach was experiencing a bit of teething issues especially with a new chef on board. I really like the venue and will definitely be back with some friends to enjoy the Thai beef salad, drinks and the beautiful view that Coast offers.
